Missionary Spotlight ~ Andrew Day

Today is a big day for my brother Andrew. Early this morning he started his journey to England to serve with George Verwer and Operation Mobilization

From Andrew's newsletter:

"It was also at Moody that God brought George Verwer and the ministry of Operation Mobilization in my path.

George Verwer is the founder and former director of Operation Mobilization (OM) an international mission agency that works in 118 countries.

Mr. Verwer is a prolific author and a popular speaker around the world. He challenges people with the great need for missions and raises awareness and funds for global needs.

Last year Mr. Verwer spoke around 300 times to diverse audiences of all ages.

I’m excited to let you know that this August I will be starting a year long ministry as George Verwer’s personal assistant (aka. Go-fer). I will be traveling with him everywhere he goes and assisting him with anything he needs.

When we are not traveling and speaking at a conference or some sort of event. I will be helping him out of his home office outside of London England. The job description of a gofer is anything, anytime, anywhere."

If you would like to receive Andrew's newsletters you can email me or Andrew and we'll add you to the list.

Every OM missionary has to raise their own support to cover ministry expenses. Andrew's trusting the Lord to bring in team members to be an important part of the ministry both through prayer support and financial support. He realizes that without God's strength and the support of God's people he would not be able to go have a part in reaching the world with the gospel. So he values the sacrifices his supporters are making on his behalf.

If you pray about it and feel like this is something God wants you to be a part of you can email Andrew at awd.day (at) gmail (dot) com.

City Museum - St Louis MO

~Thursday, May 24th~

If you have kids (or if you are a kid at heart) and are in St Louis it would be a shame to not visit this place! Not a fan of museums? Don't let the name fool you. As Elijah so excitedly said "This is not like a museum, it's like one giant playground!"

Elijah loved the dinosaurs!

The first floor is full of tunnels and caves and things to climb on. If you can climb it it's meant to be climbed on!

We met up with Rebekah, a friend and St Louis native.
Rebekah and Eunsun looking at the turtles in the tank.
Eunchan off climbing a tunnel

Joy, Eunji and Eunsun in a tunnel of mirrors
The ball pit was a hit. Those balls are bigger than Ethan's head!

Geoff's under there somewhere... you can see his knee.

Then there is this whole outside climbing area with bomber planes, walkways, wire tunnels and slides.

there go my boys

yikes! there they go through the wire tube!

It was a little boys paradise. They could climb to their little hearts content.

That red dragon is a slide. Speaking of slides, inside the building there is a ten story spiral slide.
Yes, 10 stories! I was so dizzy I couldn't even stand up when i got to the bottom.
The kids all when down it too!

Elijah and his buddy Eunchan

There was a room for the really little ones.
I think I need one of these rooms with padded walls and floors at home.

We ran out of time for the rest. You could pay extra to see the aquarium there or to play on the roof. The roof had a ferries wheel! I'm sure the aquarium and roof were fun but really you could spend all day in the rest of it and not even miss them. We had so much fun!

Man, it's hot here!

Elijah and I the day before I left for Florida.

Thank you all for your kind words and prayers! They were needed and they were answered! The goodbye at the airport that I was so dreading went remarkably smooth.

There were a couple of those rides where you drop a quarter in and it moves back and forth. We told Elijah he could have a ride after mommy left. He said "OK, bye mommy!" So there were no tears in the parting and that made it so much easier to walk away.

Goodbye beautiful Northern Ireland
We were so happy to have the whole row to ourselves!

Ethan was a grand traveler. He fell asleep off and on and rode happily in his sling. Going through security in Belfast they made me take him out of the sling and then when we walked through we set off the alarm. So they had to do a search on me and Ethan. But I couldn't be holding him so the security lady handed Ethan off to this other young security guy. He looked like he had never held a baby his his life and suddenly he gets a strange baby tossed at him. It was kind of cute. And Ethan didn't seem to mind. Ethan gave huge smiles to any one who gave him any extra attention.

Florida clouds

Now that i'm here and the trip is behind me i'm looking forward to everything more. It was great to see my mom and dad again. My grandma flies into Orlando tonight. And then we'll see my sister on Saturday. Crystal's bridal shower is on Sunday.

Thanks to Lindsay for letting me know after my last post that buttercups are very poisonous if eaten. Good to know since our back yard is covered with them!

I wanted to share this deal with you...
Amazon has the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, 30-Minutes (White) for just $49.99 (reg. $149.99) with FREE shipping! That's a savings of $100! White only...note: the 60 min. version in white is down to $99!

I used my Christmas gift card from my aunt and uncle and it arrived in the mail today! The think i love about it is that there are no cords needed. The hardest part was figuring out how to put the batteries in! Here's my first video clip! It's sooo easy!

PS. I just checked the link above and the price is up to 54.99. But still a great deal!

A Town I'd Love to Explore Better

Donaghadee, Northern Irleand

On Thursday Joanne and Will picked us up and took us to Donaghadee.

It's a beautiful coastal town with a light house and harbor.

Lots of space to stretch those legs!

And swings! Here's Will and Joanne enjoying the swings.

If only the health invader could see us now. She would not be able to say we are "so isolated down here". Let me give you a quick rundown of our past week.

*Sunday May 31- we went to church like usual in the morning and evening.
*Monday was spent at home cleaning up and getting back to normal after the weekend.
*Tuesday we celebrated my mother in laws birthday.
*Wednesday Ruth and George visited for the afternoon.
*Thursday we were out with Joanne and Will. (the above post)
*Friday was a BBQ for the youth over at a church members home. (photos on facebook if your interested)
*Saturday was busy with Geoff being off and going over to Ruth's house that evening.
*Sunday was church again.
*Monday Geoff took off work. We took Ethan to the doctors to have his belly button looked at. And I did most of my packing for this trip. I leave tomorrow morning.
*Tuesday- today- Donna and Ruth visited all day.
*And tomorrow I leave for two weeks to Florida.

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go...

I wish i could say that were true. The truth is I haven't even started packing for my two week trip to Florida for my big sister's wedding.

I leave on Wednesday.

I can't wait to get back. And i haven't even left yet.

There's been this dread sitting on my chest for the past two weeks. I just can't get over the fact that I'm going to have to hug my little boy and walk away at the airport. It just doesn't seem right! I know I'm coming back in two weeks. That's what i keep telling myself. But it doesn't seem to help. Two weeks seems like an eternity right now.

Let's see what we've got sorted so far...

The big blue bag above will be stuffed to the brim with extra diapers, wipes, changes of clothes, snacks, Ethan's sling for carrying him through the airport...

And my blue nursing cover. Which by the way you can still get free and just pay shipping.

Just visit Udder Covers and enter code "onefree" to get your Free nursing cover!

And my book lent to me from Ruth...

I'm only on chapter seven and i've already teared up twice. That does not bode well for the end of the book. I just better not get to the end while i'm on the airplane. Or else i may have to borrow a tissue from the poor soul sitting next to me. =)

So that's what i've got so far.

What else to I need to pack for the 8 hour flight over the Atlantic with a 5 month old? Any of you have travel advice?
