August Flexi of the Month

I seriously love the new August Flexi.
It reminds me of my hibiscus and flowers I grew around our house in Florida.

You can find them on my website starting today and while supplies last.

Which color do you like best?

Florida Butterflies

One thing i've really been enjoying this summer is our butterflies.

We have a large yard and lots of plants and recently i've been trying to add some color to attract the butterflies.

My friend Sherri told me that butterflies love Pentas.
She was right! The butterflies love these!

I found a great website on Florida wildflowers and butterflies. You do a search to identify each by color, find what flowers attract butterflies or search by your favorite butterfly and see how to attract them.

Zebra Longwing - it's Florida's State Butterfly .
Elijah took the next two pictures.

This flower is called Lantana and the butterflies, bees and insects sure love them!

The Gulf Fritillary or Passion Butterfly

Black Swallowtail

Cloudless Sulphur- this little guys seems to really like the hibiscus.

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail - he's a regular visitor to the pentas.

Do you have a post or info about butterflies? Feel free to leave the link in the comments section so we can all check it out!

Geoff's Birthday (part one)

Ahh, the dishes are done, the kitchen is clean and both boys are in their beds.

You won't believe how well Ethan slept last night! 9 hours! I repeat... nine hours! Hallelujah! I kept waking up wondering if everything was ok and thinking that at any moment he would be hollering for me to feed him... but no, he kept on sleeping so that's what i kept doing too! It felt SO good! Sleep... it's a wonderful thing! Here's hoping he'll do it again tonight. We're going to be out tomorrow with some friends so I want us all to get a good nights sleep tonight. I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow!

But before I head off to bed I wanted to post some pictures from Geoff's birthday. I think it was so special how Easter fell on his birthday this year!

I have a lot of birthday pictures and it was making the post just way too long so i've decided to break it up into two parts. So here's the first batch...

Here's Elijah bringing his daddy's cake out and Singing Happy Birthday.

We didn't put 32 candles on the cake!

Elijah saw a cake in a magazine with these candy eggs on top and kept asking to make it. So he was thrilled when he saw that his Auntie Rachel had made one! She was also the one who made Geoff's gluten free cake.

After dinner and cake Elijah decided to hang out on Granda' Charlie's lap for a while.

Little Ethan's first Easter! No chocolate eggs for him! His Nana gave him a cute pair of overalls though! Elijah and all the other kids got a big chocolate egg at church.

While this little guy was sleeping...

...
this little man wanted to go out side and collect pine cones.

So we took advantage of the blue sky...

Elijah grabbed his big green bucket and I grabbed my big black camera and we went out to enjoy a bit of the spring day. Which by the way has alternated between pouring rain and bright blue skies about fifty times since we woke up this morning!

Back to our adventure... we found our pear trees in bloom...

As well as the cherry tree...

I don't actually
know that this is a cherry tree. But it has beautiful pink blooms so we're calling it a cherry tree until one of you sets me straight. =)

Elijah headed right for the pine tree that he'd discovered the other day. After clearing the stash of pine cones already on the ground he climbed the fence in order to pluck them off the lowest branches...

When I saw the ivy growing on the fence I thought of you, Sherri...

it reminded me of your wedding...

On the way back to the house we passed the "cherry" tree again and it
begged me to snap just one more picture! And you know that I never say no when asked to take photos!

Thanks for letting me share our day with you! I hope you're was filled with sunshine and smiles as well!

PS. I asked Geoff when he got home last night about the "Cherry" tree and he said "yes, it's some sort of cherry tree". So there ya have it! It is indeed a cherry tree!
