Armagh

After a full day Elijah is tucked into bed and I'm here in the upstairs study with a cup of tea ready to share our day with you.
After much debate we decided to drive up and spend the afternoon in Armagh, Ireland's oldest city.
Besides being Ireland's oldest city, Armagh was also the ancient capitol of Ulster, city of Saint Patrick and the burial place of Brian Boru.
On the way we stopped for a delicious lunch at the Stonebridge Restaurant. That fortified us for an afternoon of adventures. =) Our first stop at
Saint Patrick's Trian Visitor Complex.
You remember the story of 'Gulliver's Travels'? The author, Jonathan Swift, spent time in Armagh and we got to "walk" through the story. The adventure was narrated with the help of a 20 foot giant! The pretend giant's face was illuminated with a video face so his face actually looked at us and talked. When he first said "Hello!" Elijah started crying and jumped into my lap!!! Pretty scary at first for such a little boy! I was laughing and he soon calmed down and enjoyed the rest of it.

Here is my little crusader...

Then we visited the Armagh Planetarium.

We also saw...
Saint Patrick's Catholic Cathedral
The imposing twin spires of the Roman Catholic Cathedral overlooks the City

Saint Patrick's Cathedral
Saint Patrick founded his first stone Church on the hill of Armagh in 445AD.

It was a good day spent with family and a bit of history.
I hope you all are having a great weekend.

All for now,
