Rainbow Creek Trail

I believe there is beauty to be found even on those rainy days. And we had a lot of those at the beginning of September. This is a picture of our street. Our apartment is just at the end of this dead end road on the left. I've been enjoying watching these gorgeous trees show off their Autumn colors. The rain is knocking off those yellow leaves pretty fast and it's nearly bare now.

After two weeks of clouds and rain it was a joy to see the sun last Friday. We did the bare minimum of school that morning so we could head out and enjoy the sunshine. I packed some drinks and snacks and we headed down Turnagain Arm to McHuge Creek trail head.

There are several trails that start at that trail head but this time we chose the Rainbow Creek Trail and boy am I glad we did! Wait till you see the view from half way up the mountain!

The sun was shining through the yellow leaves and made everything glow. It was amazing.

Most of the trail was through the woods so we didn't realize how high we were until we came out at this overlook! It was breathtaking. The boys were even impressed and they don't often get excited about scenery.

See the road waaay down there? That's the road we took along Turnagain Arm. The boys like to watch the cars and since the train tracks parallel the road we were hoping for a train to go by while we were up there.

I'm so thankful to have these places and spaces to enjoy so close to home. Our Fall is pretty short here in Alaska but it's intense and so, so beautiful!

What about you? Has Fall come to your part of the country yet?

It's beginning here. We won't be at peak time until mid October. It's my favorite time of year, though and I am happy to welcome it.

I think Alaska must be the most beautiful place in the world. It's so stunning!

Thank you for sharing it with us!
