How T' Be Learnin' Math Pirate-Like

So math is not my son's favorite subject in  school.

He can do it but he doesn't always do it joyfully.

Yesterday i checked on him and instead of answering the math questions he's doodling on his paper.

Because obviously it's more fun to draw pirate maps then fill in math facts.

Can't argue with him there so i told him to finish the map while went to find a ship.

I found the perfect on from our Dread Pirate board game
(great game by the way!)

Then we took turns picking questions and each time he got the answer right he got to move his ship along the map and through the dangerous water. 

If he got it wrong he had to move back a few inches.

The end result?
He sped through that math page with no tears or complaints!

Though there may have been a few tears from the doomed pirates as their ship sunk in shark infested waters!
