ABC Parking

We took our teaching outside yesterday and did school on the drive way.

I saw this idea on a blog and knew I had to try it with my little student since he loves cars so much.

I used sidewalk chalk to draw parking spaces for the cars with a letter in each one. Then I asked Elijah to drive his cars the correct space when I said the letter.

Another benefit was Ethan was entertained as well while Elijah and I did school.

I also wrote out his words to read one the driveway because it's much more fun for a six year old to read big chalk words outside then little words on a page.

We all enjoyed it. I think we are going to have to do this again!

Do you have any other ideas for me?

How do you keep your younger ones happy while you do school with the older?

What a fun idea! I'm curious to see if others have ideas on how to keep the little ones busy, because I need to know too! haha.

What a fun idea. I wish more parents engaged in such fun and meaningful play with their children! What's good for homeschooling is also great for those kids that go to public school! This would make a great 'homework' assignment to get away from the dreaded pencil and paper homework tasks!
