Pumpkinless

Sigh... i'm not feeling the autumn spirit.

This season is usually my favorite. I just love it. In fact, I love Thanksgiving just as much as Christmas!

Even more so since we've had kids and get to enjoy things with them. Like pumpkin patches. I've never enjoyed pumpkin patches more than i have the last three years. It's become a tradition and some of my very favorite pictures out of the whole year come from our trips to the good ol' pumpkin patch.

Like these from Elijah's first ever visit when he was only 8 months old.
(that's the same age as Ethan is now)

2006
Just about two feet tall in '06.

2007

2008
This was last year.

He's grown a foot since '06!We were in Florida last October for a very important wedding and snuck in a trip to the patch.

I wish i could show you pictures of our trip this year. It would be Ethan's first. Unless you count last years. But he was still inside me so that doesn't count! Imagine the cute pictures we could get with the two brothers this year! But it's not to be. Correct me if i'm wrong Rachel, but there's not a pumpkin patch to be found in this lovely country.

And that my friends, is why i'm not feeling the Fall spirit this year. There's no pumpkins adorning front porches, no autumn colors on the trees, no hot apple cider simmering in the crock pot. I've had to resort to making pumpkin bread with sweet potatoes because we can't get canned pumpkin in the store. (with all the spices you can't even tell a difference though, so that ok)

And most tragic of all no pumpkin patches to get our annual autumn family photos.

So if any of you go. Please take lots of pictures, post them, and them come tell me so i can visit vicariously through you! Thanks!

That is sad...too bad we can't ship you any pumpkins. I haven't bought even one for our home yet. I usually stop by the pumpkin wagon at a farm that sells them for $1.00 each. If it makes you feel better, we don't usually go to a pumpkin patch. I do understand wanting to keep up the family tradition.

Are there any special things for the changing season that you could do to celebrate?

That is sad Melissa! I am sorry. You could still try and make the cider maybe?? Or maybe someone can ship your pumpkin spice for your baking??

Oh dear, I can't believe that!!! No pumpkin patches over there, unbelievable. Sorry friend, we might just have to pull the artificial pumpkins from the attic when you come and take pictures of them and the boys!

Bummer...no pumpkin patches? That really stinks.

I don't know of any great one around here, but there are some smaller ones.

Oh no! Can we mail them to you? Do you think they'll make it? I'll do it! I've got a ton we bought for Autumns wedding! We can send you whatever you want! I can even mail you canned pumpkin! Oh my poor nephews! No pumpkin!

And what's this really important wedding you speak of...

Melissa,

I’m afraid I can’t offer any inspiration as to where you could find a pumpkin patch in this country…however…(if it’s any consolation) we buy pumpkin puree in a jar and bake with it…it’s delicious! I know it's probably not the same as canned pumpkin, but I just thought I'd share this with you anyway!! We have a lovely recipe for pumpkin cake, everyone loves it – and you can sure taste the spices in it! I’m not 100% sure where we buy it from though! But if you’re interested, I will find out for you! :)

Pumpkin patches are SO much fun! I was hoping to take the kids today or tomorrow, but it's wet, gloomy and rainy here right now. Praying for some sunshine in the days ahead!!

Again, these pictures just prove how much your boys look alike...especially his younger years when you can really compare their similar ages side-by-side. No doubt ever, that these two are brothers!!! :)
