Shaper of Destiny

“That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed” (Titus 2:4-5).

"If a woman is true and tender, loving and heroic, patient and self-devoted- she consciously or unconsciously organizes and puts into operation a set of influences that do more to mould the destiny of the nation than any man can possible effect... Neither woman nor the nation can afford to have home demoralized or in any way deteriorated by the loss of her presence, or the lessening of her influence there. As a nation we rise or fall as the character of our homes, presided over by women, rises or falls; and the best gauge of our best prosperity is to be found in the measure of which these homes find multiplication in the land." -Dr. J. G. Holland

Amen Melissa!

That is so very true and a reason why our nation is struggling. Women have forsaken the home.

In what ways have they forsaken the home? Just curious!

First off, it's not my intent to offend or upset anyone. That's the last thing i want to happen. And i'm not saying that all women are not being true to the home. But i do see it in the majority of people.

And i didn't understand it either until i had my own husband, children and home to take care of. And i've found in being a wife and mother both fulfillment and contentment. It's like i've finally found my place, what i was made for! But my goodness, i've still got a lot to learn!

One way that women have forsaken the home is in giving up their God given roles as wives and mothers. It's not the norm anymore for mothers to raise their children full time. I've been told "it's just not practical anymore". But these are MY children, what is practical about given them to strangers to raise?

It's been ground into us all our lives that we need to prove ourselves outside the home. It seems like the role of a mother has been degraded and put down low on the list of things a young women should aim to be.

When I heard about McCain's choice for VP and that she had 5 kids, my first thought was "so WHO is raising those kids?" And what has surprised me about the appointment of Palin, is the number of Christians who think it's a good idea. People who I expected to think differently. How can these people say a woman's place is in the home and then throw that out the window when the woman has a shot at being VP? Like my sister in law said "Someone should tell her she was created to be her husband's help meet, not John McCain's."

I know a lot of people wouldn't agree with me. And that's ok, i just hope we can still be friends. =)

Oh no Melissa!!! You did not offend me at all. Sometimes I read posts and comments and wonder what people are thinking and need explanation. I am blonde you know!!

I want to understand what people are saying and sometimes I have to ask questions to understand what someone is trying to say.

This has nothing to do with you personally. If you were to hang around me at all you would know I ask questions of total strangers. If I don't ask, I don't learn.

Sometimes quotes are hard for me to follow and I just like explanations. If I were to have a serious question I would e-mail you. But I was curious and maybe others who visit are too!!

Please know that I have come to Love and appreciate your family and your sharing. Especially Elijah's new smile!!! Alicia and I looked at that the other night here and laughed he was so cute!!

No Worries my friend!! I am just a questioner!! Blessings on your day!!
