Our Day in Hope

Saturday was just what I needed. We spent the day out of the city enjoying our beautiful state.
I've been longing to get out in the mountains and soak up some Alaska.
It's finally starting to warm up and everything is green again.

I love the drive along the Seward Highway with it's amazing views of Turnagain Arm and the mountains.

Some of Geoff's friends were going dip netting for hooligans so we stopped and watched them for a bit.

Then we continued down the Seward Highway and headed to Hope. Hope was a small gold mining town back in the day.

Along the way we saw a mama moose and her babies, two porcupines, and a whole bunch of eagles.

Another friend was camping for the weekend with his family there in Hope so we spent the rest of the afternoon with them before driving back to Anchorage that evening. The long days of light are back and we're getting over 18 hours of sunlight these days.

The kids had a blast climbing all over the rocks.

Skipping rocks

Roasting marshmallows

It was such a refreshing day.
