Meet our new "kids"

Warning: Do not read any farther if you want to continue to enjoy your store bought cows milk.

Did you know that besides having artificial growth hormones and pesticides an average glass of non organic pasteurized and homogenized milk also contains blood cells and pus? PUS!!! ugh! No thank you! After reading that I just couldn't enjoy milk like I used to!

Now in this household cereal and milk are a favorite of the boys so I couldn't just cut out milk all together. Running out of milk before our next grocery trip is a small emergency in my kids minds. =)

So instead we've started buying raw goats milk from a family we know. The boys LOVE it and I feel so good about giving it to them. Not only does it NOT have all those other nasty stuff in it but it has many good nutrients, vitamins and other benefits. Our bodies can digest it in 20 minuets verses the 2-3 hours it takes to digest cows milk.

Knowing all that, we knew we wanted to have our own milk goats one day. So when the family we buy our goats milk from said they were trying to find homes for some of their young goats we decided there was no time like the present and brought two girls home this past weekend.

They are four months old and so sweet. They love attention and to be around people. We love our new additions already!

Pus, you say? Pus?? Oh dear...
I have never had goat's milk, but now you make me definitely want to give it a try. I've always heard that it's the closest to our own milk. Don't know if that's true, but that's what I've heard.

How does the taste compare? I have been thinking of raw milk (cow) - we are able to get our milk from a local dairy that doesn't use hormones, but it still is pasturized and homogenized.....
