Birthday Giveaway

Good morning everyone on this lovely Saturday!

I know a lot of you out there are coffee lovers like me.

Go visit Karen's blog to enter her birthday giveaway! You could win one of these...

No, you can't win the curly headed kid! You can win what's in his hands. She's giving away a bag of delicious Rwandan coffee!

This coffee has a story behind it. You can read more about it by clicking here.

Even if you don't like coffee, go wish Karen a happy birthday. Or try out some of her yummy recipes.

Just a little background info for ya. When we lived in Florida Geoff worked for Karen's husband doing trees. Then we started going to the bible study they held in their home. She always made us feel so welcome.

Thanks Karen! I hope you have a very special birthday next week!

A Love Nothing Can Destroy

My mom would pick a good book out and read it aloud to our family when we were growing up.

One of the books she read to us was The Hiding Place. The true story of Corrie Ten Boom.

A few days ago i found this little book tucked away in Granny's bookcase. I'm rereading it now and i'm finding there's so much wisdom packed into this little book.

I just read the part where Corrie is in her early twenties and just found out that the love of her life is engaged to some one else. She was crushed! She runs up to her room at the top of the odd little house and cries.

Her father comes up the stairs to talk to her. She hears him coming and is afraid he'll say "There'll be someone else soon." In her heart she knows that's not true.

But that's not what he tell her.

Instead he says "Corrie, do you know what hurts so very much? It's love. Love is the strongest force in the world, and when it is blocked that means pain.
There are two things we can do when this happens. We can kill the love so that it stops hurting. But then of course part of us dies too. Or. Corrie, we can ask God to open up another route for that love to travel.
God loves Karel, even more than you do, and if you ask Him, He will give you His love for this man, a love nothing an prevent, nothing destroy. Whenever we cannot love in the old human way, Corrie, god can give us the perfect way."

I hope i have this kind of wisdom to share with my kids when they go through hard things!

If you know the rest of the story you know it's a hard one. And Corrie would remember this lesson later on. She says,

"I did not know, as I listened to Father's footsteps winding back down the stairs, that he had given me more than the key to this hard moment. I did not know that he had put into my hands the secret that would open far darker rooms than this, places where there was not, on a human level, anything to love at all."

Ice Age 3 & Big E

So Elijah watched Ice Age 3 and I had to laugh at his reactions! He was so funny! If you've seen the movie you know the part where Sid and his three rescued eggs are rolling down the mountain. Poor E. looked really concerned and was saying "oh no!" and "His other egg!"

There you go, Sherri. Three posts in one day! How's that? =)

Blue Monday

I'm finally joining in with Blue Monday!

Some have asked for pictures of Elijah at Ethan's age so here they are both at 7 months with the same blue teething ring!

It's so fun to see them both develop their own personalities. These boys are such a blessing! It's impossible to feel blue on a Monday with these guys around! Their smiles and giggles just brighten the day.

Did you all have a good weekend?

Nostalgia

This week's theme at I ♥ Faces is “Nostalgia”.

I was browsing through my old pictures and came to the ones from August 2007 when we first moved into our house in Florida. They brought back so many good memories and feelings.
Oh, i miss it. Those pictures definitely brought back some nostalgic feelings for me!

This picture of Elijah was taken a day or two after we moved in. A friend came to visit and brought him a new toy. We didn't have living room furniture yet so he had lots and lots of room to pull it around in there!

***Don't forget that tomorrow is your last day to get your name entered into our giveaway! A $35 gift certificate to Living Rooms Direct.

I don't think i've posted this picture here yet. Although it was on the slide show here.

My favorite picture from week with my nephews and niece is this one.

It's Elijah and his five cousins (a.k.a. the six little Indians) feeding Nana's hens.

My Baby is 7 Months Old

Look what popped through this week!

His 2nd tooth!

I feel like he's growing up so fast. Last thing i knew he was a brand newborn hardly able to hold his eyes open and now he's holding up his arms to be picked up. I still can't believe we've been blessed with two little boys! I'm so thankful.

Thank you for your comments, questions and suggestions regarding speaking. It's been encouraging to hear your thoughts. And it's given me some idea of what people are thinking.
I'll answer you questions here on the blog at some point too.

GiveAway!

I'm excited to be hosting a giveaway sponsored by Living Rooms Direct.

They have offered a $35 gift certificate to one of my readers!

They offer dining room furniture and other home accessories.

I love this set from their site because it reminds me of the table and chairs that Geoff and I picked out for our house in Florida.

They also have smaller items and home decor.

You could choose any of these...

White Three Butterfly Tea Light Holder

All of these items are under $35. Or you could put the certificate towards a larger item. It's up to you! Instead of me picking something out i wanted the winner (is it you?) to be the one to pick out what they wanted.

How to enter:

For one entry - leave a comment
For two entries - become a follower or let me know you already are one.
For three entries - do the first two and click here ----> to read this post and ask a question. (leave your question in this posts comments)

You don't have to have a blog in order to enter. But unfortunately they said they can only ship to US addresses. But hey, if you are overseas and you win you could send it to a friend in America so go ahead and enter too!

If you've never left a comment now would be a great time to start! =)
For those who may not know how to leave a comment just look below each post for the words "_
friends left their thoughts..."
Click on it and it'll open a new box where you can leave your comment.

I'm really excited about this because it's a chance to give back to you all. My awesome readers, commenters and friends who give me so much!

I'll randomly choose a winner next week. Wednesday, August 26th.

p.s. This doesn't count as my pay it forward giveaway. That's still to come!
