A Note from Rachel

I’m sorry, I know you didn’t come here for this. You came here, probably in a brief moment of quiet, to see my sister-in-law’s excellent photography, to laugh at anecdotes concerning my nephews, maybe even in hopes of finding a new recipe. And now what do you find? That Melissa’s blog has once again been taken over by me, and I just don’t bring the kind of loveliness to your day that she would. But now that you are here, you might as well stick around. Go on, get yourself a cuppa (that would be a cup of tea, coffee or your preferred refreshing beverage), sit back and read on.

Healthcare. It seems like a fairly simple concept, health + care = caring for your health. Who wouldn’t want to do that? You would think that a President who wanted to reform healthcare would have the full of support of his people. After all ‘to reform’ something is

to make changes for improvement in order to remove abuse and injustices”, or to put it another way “a campaign aimed to correct abuses or malpractices”
(word reference English dictionary – oh yes, we’re pulling out dictionaries for you now.)

You get the idea, ‘reform’ is all about making something better, so why in the world would President Obama use the word ‘reform’ to describe his plans for healthcare….maybe his teleprompter broke? Perhaps it’s even worse than that, perhaps he really believes that socialized healthcare is a good thing. The mind boggles.

Now if you’re a fan of socialized healthcare, or just generally liberal, please don’t start choking on your beverage. I’m a Christian, I didn’t recommend a drink in hopes that you would choke on it. You see, unlike the government, I care about your well being. I want you to have healthcare that doesn’t involve waiting lists, the closure of local hospitals, ward closures, inappropriate/inadequate treatment, hours upon hours of waiting in A&E – possibly on a hospital trolley if you’re really sick, but if you can speak – you’re waiting….And these are not horror stories, these are just the realities of life with the NHS. I’ll spare you the horror stories, because Melissa likes her readers and wants them to visit her blog again, and that means I can’t scare you too much.

Liberals? Are you there? I’m sure you only want socialized healthcare for the best reasons, you want everyone to receive the medical treatment they need, without the bills that they just can’t afford. That’s very sweet of you. ‘Sweet’ in the same way that my nephews telling me “when I grow up and I’m a man, I’ll buy you all the jewelry you want” is sweet. It’s cute, but it’s never going to work.

Perhaps someone ought to explain to Obama that he is in fact the President of the United States and not of France.

Ps. Dear Melissa, I edited this in order to be nicer to liberals. My bible reading told me I have to love the brethren, I think that probably includes them….I wonder if tough love counts?

The End

Well said Rach! Words full of wisdom as always! :) Instead of invading Melissa's blog, I think you should start up your own! I would read it :) xo

I agree, Jayne. If she did i hope she would still be willing to write for me once in a while though!

And Jayne, i think YOU should start one too! I'd read it! =)

Yes, I too would hope that Rach would still continue to write on your blog! I think she would be a fantastic blogger! :)

Me on the other hand...I'm not very good at writing things down, I'm much better at talking aloud! I would just have to fill up all of the spaces with photos of my animals (which by the way you still have to visit sometime!) hehe!

I'm all for it!

Thanks for today's 'invasion'!! (;

...I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately, so many of the people who are 'for' this so-called 'reform' are sadly mistaken about the underlying details and they really have no real or logical concept of what would REALLY happen if American embraced a socialized health plan. They are simply 'uneducated' about the TRUTH involving such a ridiculous plan. Sadly, their only 'education' comes from an Obama-crazed liberal media that is not about reported news and truths, but rather about supporting a major left-wing agenda. Okay...'nuff said. You don't wanna get me going on this, as I AM educated and SO appreciate this post and you defining what 'reform' is really about! Sadly, I think that many of the 'old school' left-wingers would turn in their graves if they seen what Obama has been doing to this country. Even they would not approve. So it really isn't about a republican vs. democrat battle here... it's about the PEOPLE...the American Majority and what is BEST for our country and the future of our children and generations to come. See!?...I warned you not to get me going!!...LOL!

Have a blessed weekend! <><

What a wise woman you are Rachel!

No wonder we like you so much!

well, it WILL happen, I do believe. will it work? who knows, but I'm willing to give it a try....

until you've had it hard in this area of health insurance, you wouldn't understand the desperation for change. if it doesn't work, we'll figure something else out.

And to TanyaLea

I also want to say, that I am educated on it, thank you very much. My husband is from the UK. I have been treated in both Countries.... and yada yada....
So that was quite rude to say that the "for it" people are uneducated.

Gar, I hate arguing about issues like this...cuz no one person is ever 100% right.

It's just so darn tempting to comment. I just think that when you pick on "other people" rather then the issue, it's rude.

I think you did an excellent job on this post, Rachel, and I completely agree. I fear that this socialist healthcare plan will cause us to have very poor and inappropriate healthcare.

Good points, Rachel. I am not in favor of "obama-care" for a lot of different reasons. Although, Bailie Clan, I wholeheartedly agree that we need major changes to our system. But I think it would be a drastic mistake to assume that any change is a good one.

I live (vicariously) in the healthcare community. I hear physicians talking about this...all the time. Trust me when I say that you do not want what Obama is proposing to go through.

Yes, Rachel when are you going to start your own blog? I'd become a follower!

Thanks everyone for your comments :) As for starting a blog of my own, I think it's best if I keep hijacking Melissa's, otherwise I'd never get anything done!
