Books! Books! Books!

I love books! Miss Paula at Gathering of Friends is hosting a book party! She's asking us to share our favorite books that we enjoyed growing up. I have to say there are quite a few books that I remember from when i was younger that i love so this might turn into a long post.

My mom would read to us a lot. She read the entire Chronicles of Narnia to my sister and I. We loved those books! We even named our dog after Shasta from The Horse and His Boy. Then we had a hamster named aftrt Reepicheep, the brave little mouse.

But the very first series my mom read to us was the Little House books by Laura Ingles Wilder. Those books hold some good memories as well. We could identify with Mary and Laura because they were sisters just like me and my sister. =)

When I started to enjoy reading on my own I loved reading the Mandie books by Lois Gladys Leppard. My Grandma kept me supplied with new books. She would give me another set of 5 Mandie books for my birthdays and Christmases.

Another author my Grandma got me started on was Lois Walfrid Johnson. I got really attacted to the characters in these books and was SO sad when I got the end of the last book. It was like I had to say goodbye to friends! I would read the last couple chapters really slow to make the books last longer! =)

Adventures of the Northwoods
So I was super excited when she wrote a new series!

The Riverboat Adventures
I still have all of these books packed away in our garage. Maybe my kids will enjoy them one day like I did.

If you join in and do a post about your favorite books, let me know!

Oh my goodness you love to read :O) I learned to love to read when I was in junior high and high school but I really didn't like it in elementary school because I was so bad at spelling... HOWEVER, along with Little House on the Prarie my favorite was the Anne of Green Gable's series!!! I wanted to move to Prince Edward Island until I was about 22 years old!!

What a fun post!
